Does The TWA Work With Android?

The ToneWoodAmp functions as a standalone device with its own built-in DSP for effects like reverb, delay, echo, and tremolo. It does not require an iDevice or Android device to operate these effects.

If you're using an Android device, you can utilize guitar effects and amp sounds through apps like Amplitube by using the correct third-party hardware, such as iRig. In this setup, the Output Jack (DI Mode) is used, and the output from your hardware or headphone out is fed back into the ToneWoodAmp via the Insert Jack. Make sure to set DI mode to TWA and DI for optimal results.

While iDevice MIDI features theoretically work on Android, there is currently a limitation in the Android platform. There are no apps supporting Polyphonic Virtual MIDI, which is necessary for MIDI apps to process sounds from other instruments in real-time and send them back to the ToneWoodAmp.

For iOS users, MIDI Sampling enables the creation of MIDI signals (not audio signals like effect apps on Android) from a small audio signal via the insert jack. These MIDI signals are processed as different sounds, not effects, and sent back to the ToneWoodAmp through the Insert Jack.
