How to control your ToneWoodAmp's output signal when using an amp or PA.
When you plug a cable into the output jack of the TWA2, DI Mode is enabled automatically. With the Tonewoodamp Remote app open, you'll see another red slider on the far right of the screen, the red DI indicator on the bottom of the app will illuminate, and a red DI menu will open. The DI Mode gives you control over the signal you're sending out to an amp or PA for excellent live sound using the effects from the ToneWoodAmp.
Master - The Master slider controls the output volume to the amp or PA.
Wet/Dry Blend - The extra slider on the far right of the screen controls the wet/dry blend, or the balance between the wet, effected signal from the TWA and the dry signal, the sound directly from your guitar's pickup. If you turn it up all the way, you'll get a signal that's completely saturated with effects. If you slide it all the way to the bottom, you'll get the pure sound from the guitar's pickup with no effects. Generally, somewhere in the middle works ideally for a great live tone.
EQ - You can control the EQ of the signal sent out to the amp or PA you're using to dial in the best sound for the room you're playing in or to your tastes. You can cut or boost four frequencies simultaneously.
- The 90Hz/150Hz slider's arrow allows you to select either 90Hz or 150HZ frequencies.
- The two mid frequencies allow you to adjust the cut or boost using the left slider and adjust the frequency using the right slider. Clicking the arrow underneath will allow you to select a wider or narrower group of frequencies to affect with your cut or boost.
- The 5KHZ/3KHZ slider's arrow allows you to select either 5KHZ or 3KHZ frequencies.
Boost - Turning the boost on gives you a 5dB volume boost into the amp or PA you're plugged into.
Phase - Enabling the phase inverts the phase of the signal if your signal is out of phase and sounds thin through the amp or PA.
FDBK ASSN - The feedback assassin automatically eliminates feedback when enabled.
COMP - The compressor will even out transients or volume variations in your playing for a more even output to the amp or PA.
- Set it to Light for light compression that still allows for some volume variance
- Set it to Even for an even and louder signal.
- Set it to Squeeze + for a heavily compressed sound.
- The bright switch accentuates high frequencies for a brighter sound.
- The Cut -2dB switch will drop the output volume by 2dB.
LoCut - The Low Cut filter will cut all frequencies from your output signal below your selected frequency.
Notch - The Notch filter is used to cut a problematic frequency or group of frequencies where feedback is occurring.
- Click the microphone icon while the feedback is occurring to automatically set the frequency knob.
- Turn the Cut knob clockwise until the feedback stops.
- Alternatively, you can turn the Cut knob up to about half and slowly rotate the frequency knob until the feedback stops.
- The width adjusts the Q Factor, or the width of the frequencies being cut around the selected frequency.
- BYPS will bypass the effects from the ToneWoodAmp and provide a dry signal to the amp or PA.
EQ Profiles - If you find a combination of DI settings that works particularly well for you, you can save the settings by holding one of the numbers, 1-5. If you change a setting and wish to update your saved setting, hold the number you've already saved a setting on.
